Hardware
- Corne V3 split keyboard. Even though it looks really stupid, it's just so much more comfortable to type on.
- XM1r mouse. I don't like the idea of charging a wireless mouse. I just bought this one because it's good enough to play games on if I want to.
- A 5 year old prebuilt pc running arch linux. It still works. Linux isn't difficult to run and I hardly play any AAA games.
- A thinkpad dualbooting windows 11 and arch. It has a Descartes sticker on it.
- An old sony dvd player for playing cds.
- A cd drive extracted from an old desktop pc for ripping games and music.
Software
Graphical
- Obsidian Good notetaking app
- Librewolf A cleaner firefox fork
- Aseprite A pixel art editor but I use it as a general image editor for low res images and gifs as well. Buy it on steam or compile from source for free.
- Syncthing For syncing my projects and notes between desktop and laptop via LAN. I also sync my notes to my phone using mobius sync. Redundancy is a valid way to keep data safe without being on the internet right?
Dev
- Neovim Code editor that lets you waste more time setting it up than using it. Vim motions are genuinely life altering.
- obsidian.nvim Obsidian note-taking in neovim
- Godot game engine. I use it to make my games
- 11ty ssg for this site
- Krita Open source painting program. Worse than csp but running csp through linux sucks
Media/Web
- DuckDuckGo Stupid name. Google search alternative that's privacy centric.
- MPV for watching videos. Can be set up to watch youtube links too.
- FFMPEG for re-sizing or converting images/video/audio between different formats.
- RMPC terminal mpd client
- Bitwarden Free password manager. Also has a browser extension.
OS
- Arch btw
- MangoWM tiling window manager. I switched off sway because I like having the master stack layout.
Browser Extensions
UBlock Origin Good adblocker.
SponsorBlock Autoskips sponsor segments on youtube.
Return Youtube Dislikes Self explanatory.
Vimium C Browse using just your keyboard. Stops you having to pick up the mouse just to click a link.
Unhook For people addicted to youtube. I also turn off watch history (in youtube settings) to disable recommendations and shorts completely.
Dark Reader Useful for some sites that don't have a dark mode, I leave it off by default though.
